Hi,
I am currently running a wet/dry (two amp) bass rig via a single SVT 810e cab; split into two 4x10 8ohm loads. I've done this for years now, and to me, blending two amps is THE way to add effects for bass guitar.
Now I want to take it step further - a wet/dry/wet system… yes, three separate amps!
The problem with this, as I'm playing local bars/clubs, etc. I'm limited to relatively small stage real estate. I just can't bring another set of cabinet(s). And really the 810e "refrigerator" is the limit of what I care to haul to a gig anyway. Tone-wise, it's still worth the effort. I'll just have to train harder at the gym…
So it occurred to me that maybe I could modify the 810e speakers and connections to accomplish this as follows:
Top New 2X10's @ 4 or 8ohms = wet
Middle Original 4X10's @ 8ohms = dry
Bottom New 2X10's @ 4 or 8ohms = wet
Now I am aware that the original 810e speakers are 32 ohm and there are certain specification parameters that make them appropriate for a closed cabinet design. So ultimately what I'm asking advise for is this;
What would be the appropriate Jensen speaker (hopefully it can be neodymium to save some lbs.) that would be an effective replacement for the top and bottom sets of 10" speakers?
Thanks in advance for the help and I appreciate any thoughts and concerns regarding.
Best regards
