L know that the SVT cabinets have gone through a number of changes over the years but when did they stop using real wood boards? Was it MTI, SLM or Loud? I've got two here now in for new tolex. We are going with that Seventies tolex. Now I know why Ampeg went to the knobby tolex, it will better cover the roughness of the particle board.

The SLM era SVT cab should be plywood like the original. I am not aware of any act cab that was solid wood.
If they are making them out of particle board now instead of plywood then it is a loud tech inc change. I always found sLM to be pretty good when it came to quality in ampeg products. They messed up here and there but they never totally blew it like loud does.
