i've read somewhere that you can run a jumper cable from channel one over to channel two.
does this do anything and is it harmful?

Definitely not harmful.

The idea is generally that you have the signal going through both preamps, and that hits the power amp a little harder. I have tried it with the Gemini 1 but I find that It doesn't really need it. give it a shot and see what you think
