B25B Capacitor Fail

Hello, new member.

I opened up my amp to clean the pots/switches today and found what I believe is the polarity switch capacitor in quite a state. This is located to a terminal strip behind the power/polarity/standby switches.

From info I have found, the fact that there is a three prong power cord on the amp alludes to the possibility this capacitor is likely not being utilized anyway and can be removed.

How to be sure?

I'm not a tech and have only rudimentary knowledge of electronics, but I'm capable enough to replace it if necessary.

yeah thats pretty common with that cap. I've seen many Ampegs of that era in the same state. I tend to replace the caps with an y class safety capacitor. if you use the amp out and about. If its something that you use in the comfort of your own home/studio and you know the wiring is correct and the ground is connected, there is no need to replace.
