I thought about that and it can be done except Ampeg welded the cord bracket right across the edge of the opening. I'd have to remove the welded bracket without destroying the perforated screen (and chrome plating). The fan looks original and was bolted tightly to the screen. It all looks factory but the noise couldn't have been acceptable. The other thing to note: since the late model screen doesn't have a large hole, you can't stick something in to pop the front panel without removing the screen. Maybe that was their intent?
