New guy here...

I play a new Fender American Pro Jazz Bass into a Peavey Firebass 700 on an 810E SVT cabinet. I was going to pull the trigger on buying the matching head, but I was schooled today at the NAMM show.

The SVT guy from Ampeg told me to beware of foreign made amps and cabinets. Aparently the Viet Namese, Chinese and other Asian manufacturers aren't up to snuff with their American counterparts. It turns out my 810 cabinet is Chinese. When I played the pair together at GC before buying the cabinet, I noticed there were occasional drop outs. I figured it might be a bad 12AX7 or capacitor. Now I'm concerned about it's quality overall.

So, should I wait and buy a Vintage head that's made in the USA and spend the extra money, or just buy the Chinese head for about $1200 and replace the tubes. The Peavey sounds ok and I can use it for a while.

Thoughts?

Thanks!
