Rig show off
#1
Thought i'd post a photo of my rig in its' natural habiat.
Ampeg VT22 distortion model in a fliptops V4 headbox.
Ampeg V2 early 70's Linden, Running kt88.
Laney Klipp, Winged C EL34 and Nos mullard 12ax7 preamp tubes.
1968 Fender bassman oversized 2x12's. Loaded With V30's
Orange 4x12 with V30's
I also own an early magnavox V2 and a late 70's master vol V2, currently missing a headbox. Let me know if anyone has one for sale cheaper than fliptops.

Thats a pretty huge rig. do you really use all of those at once?

tell me about the V2. how hot do you bias the KT88s? what brand of tubes do you use?

I"ve done a lot of KT-88 conversions on the V2s they really sound great like that.

Usually i use either the VT22 or the V2 + the Laney Klipp with the two fender bassman cabs. I'm the only guitar player in my band and i use the Klipp for an extra boost during choruses sometimes, with an ABY box.

I got a friend to do the bias for me after i got the KT88 tubes and changed the screen grid resistors to 1k 5w. I don't know how he biased them. How hot do you bias them?

I just did the tonestack mod on the V2. I gotta say it sounds much better now! Do you know if it's the same procedure on the VT22 distortion model?

Rad! I usually bias the V2 for 70% max plate dissipation when there are KT-88s in there. they can take it a lot better than the 7027s.

The Distortion models use that same crummy PEC tone stack. the procedure is pretty much identical.
