1961 M12
#1
Nice to see this forum back on line. I hope we can get people posting again. I sold all my previous Ampegsafter moving back to Toronto; an R-12-R, an M12, and a Reverberocket 2. But....I really missed the M12 and was lucky enough to find a 1961 in great shape. The filter caps had already been replaced (bypassed the original can) and it had a new handle and grounded power cable. The trem was weak and it had some funny noises, so into the shop it went. As suspected, some of the 59 year old red Astrons were leaky, so the tech replaced those with some Spragues. Working perfectly now and sounds great. The original Syntox-6 C12R is in great shape and sounds beautiful. Think I'll leave it in. It'll be a while before I can take it on a gig and run it at stage volume, but that will decide the fate of the speaker.

Its good to be back! My wife and I have a couple of little kiddos and between starting our family, moving across the country a couple times, and work being crazy, I didn't notice that the web hosting got switched on me.

Man i love the Navy random flair ampegs! Thats a handsome M12! If the speaker works and sounds great, you can't really argue with it.

I'm back, although I sold my Ampegs (AC12 and V4) before html. Tried a few Fenders but I just gotta have an Ampeg or two also!  I bought a GV-15 because it was very cheap, then bought a GV-22 because I much prefer the 12" speaker setup.

Hangman, I have read SO many of your postings. Very helpful in bringing these old amps back to life, and much appreciated. I had wondered what you did to get banned from an amplifier forum!
