Early 70's B25B Head
#1
Hey Hangman. Thanks for the new place. My visits to the other one were getting less frequent due to problems.

I asked you this a couple or so years ago, but never got around to taking my early 70's B25B head to the tech. I think it's finally going to get there. I'm sure he'll have his own ideas, but I'd like yours as well. This head is a very tired one, and I'm sure needs tubes and other items. What are your current likes in the tube department as well as other replacements that will likely be needed? I like as much bass as possible with no breakup.

Any others with experience or suggestions are welcome too.

Thanks and success with the site. Smile

I've been really happy using wing C 6L6GCs in a lot of ampegs. but the wing C factory is closed now. I like the JJ 6L6 alright, and the new Mullards from new sensor aren't half bad either.

That being said, the B25b is another good option for KT-88s it requires some circuit modification as the B25s don't have any screen resistors. so you gotta add 1k screen resistors and then change the bias.
changing the grid resistors to 5.6k might be a good idea too.

I know I've been pushing the Kt-88s on this forum a lot with the V2, but its really a great option for a lot of ampeg's amps.
