B25 main speaker 1/4" conversion

I have a B25 on the bench. Someone previous to me clipped the XLR speaker connector off and attemted to wire 2 of the 4 wires to a 1/4" mono jack. It is not functioning as wired. How can I be certain to use the correct wires. As I understand it, with original connector, 2 and 3 were tied together and 1 ad 4 were +&-. 
Can someone tell which color wires go to the jack and should I tie the other two together?
I seem to be foggy on this situation.Thanks much!
