68 Gemini 12 G/12
#1
I'm a new member on this forum. Never been on a forum before but I just bought my first Ampeg last night and my whole world is changed. I found a 1968 Gemeni 12 G/12. I'm not lying when I say this but it's basically new old stock. Factory cover all original tubes. Still had factory extra fuse in the cab. This thing doesn't have a mark on it. But what amazes me is the sound. I own vintage fenders and marshalls but this thing rocks. So many tones come ou of thes amp it's unbelievable. I just had to share it with someone or some people who would understand. Any thoughts from you guys who know a lot more about this than I. It sat in a closet under its cover since 1970 and was only used a handful of times with a accordion lol. I bought it from the owners son. Thanks hope to get some response. I'll try to figure out how to post a pic.

Hey wildman,

The g12 is my favorite ampeg! I was introduced to ampeg with the vt-22 which is a combo version of the v4 (100W amp with fever and active mid control.). That amp was way too loud for me, but I loved the sound. That is when I found the g12.
Which version do you have?

You can add a pic to your post in the post editor. The size of the photos are limited, but I'm going to work on changing that.
Alternately if you have a gmail account you can post your images as a linked image.

I would love to see your amp! I'm excited to have another g12 enthusiast around too!

Thanks for replying. I really want to show this amp. Lol. When I try to move it from my photo library to the post it says it's to big of a file. I don't have a gmail account so any suggestions would be great. I gotta show you this thing. It's so clean. Like new. But, it's sounds awesome.

Ive just raised the maximum size to 3MB. So perhaps that will help. You can also resize the image using most photo editing software. I am trying to find a plugin to accommodate users, by automatically resizing large image uploads, so standby for that if 3MB is still too small and you can't get the images resized.

weird, had a reply written... I must not have sent it.

That Gemini 12 is exactly like mine. (except yours is in better shape) I feel that the blue line era gemini 12 is a beefier gemini. has a bit more low end to it. they are also harder to come by.

Do you have any specific questions about the amp?

Thanks for the replies. I really like this one. Never had a ampeg but when I heard it and saw the condition I couldn't resist. It's in the living room and that says a lot lol.
Definitely cool stuff.

Love this website as well.

Got a question. Do you guys recommend putting a grounded cord on it to help the dreaded hum when playing my strats through it?
